Steve Carell plays Barry Speck, a simple-minded dweeb who is conned into attending a business dinner by ambitious financial analyst Tim (Paul Rudd). It's a monthly chance for Tim to impress his slimy boss and other corporate scumbags by ridiculing a poor unfortunate... but Barry's attendance sparks a crisis of conscience in his smug sponsor. Director Francis Veber's 1998 French hit Le Diner de cons is retooled for an American market with Barry causing mayhem for Rudd's love life as well as David Walliams' camp Swiss industrialist and Lucy Punch's obsessive vamp.
